I need help with my tank. I've got an ammonia problem. Everything else is normal. The nitrat is 0, the nitrite is 0, and the pH is 7.0. The ammonia is .50. I do know that it is supose to be 0. How can I get it lower?
Do you have a filter in the tank? Was it cycled before you put your betta in there? If it wasn't cycled it's likely going through the cycle process right now. You should do a lot of water changes for a couple of days till you have all of your stats straightened out. I'm sure someone else can help you with this even further as I don't know what to do with a cycling tank that well. Good luck
I do have a filter in it. It's a 10 gallon tank. This is the first time it has done this. Now the water is cloudy. I've been doing 50-100% water changes every week for the last 3 months. I haven't seen a bubble nest in a month. I'm very worried about him.
If you've been testing the water ever since you've had your tank set up then I'd say it is going through a cycle and you should do a water change of 50% every three days until the readings go back to normal. I'm not sure about the cloudy water but it could be linked to the water quality. You can either get something that can help cloudy water or change out your water 30% for 3 days and see if that helps it out.
