I Need Help Fitting My Fluval External Filter

I recently bought a Fluval Roma 240 tank with a 405 external filter, i've set it up but the hose & clips to go over the edge of the tank wont fit snug & the lid wont shut properly.
Is there anyone who's had this problem & can give me an answer to fix it?
i've searched the web for pics or vids about external fluval filters but no luck.

i got this tank yesterday

i have the tubes going over the right hand side, and just push them onto the rim. their not exactly made to fit but they hold. i dont bother with the suckers.

then i just lay the lid ontop and it goes over the pipes. i read on the instruction leaflet thing that there are special cutouts for pipes but i couldnt find any.

can i ask what fish you going to keep out of interest?

did you get the 405 separate to the tank? its meant to be the 305 that comes with the tank. i have a roma 240, came with a 305 but never fitted it as i fitted an fx5. as far as i know the tubes for the 305 are the same size to the 305?if so they should fit in. have you snapped off the square bits on the back where the tubes are meant to go? i assume so. i bought an extra flap from hagen/fluval and cut it out at the back so it sits flush to the tank. i felt this necessary as mine stuck up a good couple of centimeters. if it does stick up a lot, apart from cutting to fit i don't no what to suggest.

personally i couldnt find and places to snap off even though it says so in the instructioin manual. i upgraded to the 405 hence why i have that

Thanks for your reply, i didn't notice the square things at the back & it fits brilliant now i've removed em. i got the filter with the tank & stand from seapets online £249 with heater, lights & fittings, bargain i think.
