Hi, i will be buying a 150-180 US Gallon Tank here within 2 weeks and i have decided to buy an eheim canister filter to compliment the aquaclear 500 and emperor 400 i have already purchased for the tank.

Can someone please tell me which one they think will be the best?

I cant decide between all the different ones, professional, classic, ecco etc etc.

Once you are going for the Eheim, do it right and forget the Ecco, it's the budget model and not much better then similar priced Fluvals.

The Classic is my favourate, not too expensive, extremely effective, super silent, and reliable. It's cheaper price is because it does not have convenience features like self priming and media baskets.
The pro is everything above plus those features, but also costs a lot more.

Either way you win.

Exactly what cich and foz said. If its money over convience get the largest classic you can afford. If its convience over money get the monster wet dry.

These things do not rely on heavy water flow its on moving over mass amounts of bacteria. Infact I have said you MUST prefilter these! There is no mechanical filteration inside, all bio filter! If you can get the water to go from one of your other 2 units direct to the eheim that would be very nice...
an easy way would be to put a guppy box and have the out put of the other filter and the input of the eheim in it. Those are HOTB filters right? great for mechanical filteration because they are so easy to clean out all the time!

I like the design of the square ones better... but this may be better ... as fozz says you cant over filter... less you see your fish getting sucked into a vortex

If you werent going to dyi a way to get the prefiltered water this tool may be helpful... save ya some time with rubberbands and prefilters.

Im a little confused now.

Money is not an issue.

Therefore should i get a big wet/dry or the biggest pro?

If money is not an issue then I would go with the 2260 or the 2229
I have no way to really test which is better. The 2260 is rated for a larger tank... I would go with that one. Even though I KNOW I like the 2229, with a tank your size I would rather try for more filteration than certianty.
