I need an algae eater!

Okay this may sound dumb but i need a algae eater that can live in my 55gallon tank with 2 breeding jack dempseys and no eat the eggs! I want somethine that will only eat algae. I can make it some PVC caves to hide in. Does anyone have any suggestions? I dont want plecos they are eggs eaters

Try 1 or 2 Golden apple snails, I have often had these in breeding tanks and such like, even the bigger cichlids dont seem to bother them, try and get some as large as you can.

Okay not to hijack but barring snails whats the best option? In my 240 con breeder there will soon be a bronze puffer, which when fully grown will find a fully grown apple snail to be a good meal.
