I want to start up a little 10g dwarf puffer tank, and to keep him entertained he'll need lots of plants!
Any easy care (no CO2) plant that needs to be pruned every week/day/hour would be great, since the tank only needs another week or so of cycling

Indian fern i thinks a fast grower. and some stem type plants are

Hygrophila would be awesome, grows like weed and turns a lovely red when up at the surface, had a load of it in my Green Spotted Puffer tank and they loved it gave them some entertainment and made it a jungle and needed no special treatment.

I think Anachris is one of the fastest growing plants but it's not the prettiest to look at. It looks like seaweed to me.................to each his own I guess. Anyway, PetSmart here in North Carolina has some Ananchris for cheap, like $2.99 for a big plant. I prefer Wisteria myself.

Water sprite, brazilian pennywort, and my fav and they are weeds. sagittaria also sends out runners like mad even in poor conditions.

I'll second the Wisteria. That stuff grows like CRAZY.

But with puffers, are/should you be having the water be a little on the brackish side? If so, I'm not sure which plants would do best under those conditions. I dunno, maybe mangroves? Probably need a pretty big tank for those though.

I'm surprised nobody has suggest hornwort. Very fine leaves- fun to play in. Plus I think it's pretty! Doesn't need anything but water to grow. Had that stuff sitting in a bucket in my basement for weeks and it still managed to double. Got some in my outdoor pond by accident, and it survived the winters and everything. Growing pieces as tall as me!

Only certain types of puffer need brackish water, and I'm going for the freshwater Dwarf Puffers :) They do apparently like to uproot some plants though

Thanks for the great advice! I wen for some wisteria which is taking over the tank nicely. It's even outgrowing my Java Moss o_O

I have Wisteria, Bacopa Moneywort, Bacopa Carolinia, Green & Red Amazon Swords. I like the Wisteria the best because it grows well in less than perfect conditions & it varies in it's leaf shapes. Some Wisteria will grow rounder, less fingered leaves if the amount of amount of light isn't quite sufficient. Mine have the fingered leaves towards the top & the rounder ones toward the bottom where the leaves don't get as much light. I believe the temp can make them grow differently too.
