So for background, I got amanos many many months ago for my 10g, but the store only sold babies. I had assumed they would have enough hiding places to stay until they grew out, but once my betta picked one off and I couldn't find the others I assumed it was a failed idea.

I rehomed my betta a couple weeks ago for a few reasons and the tank has been sitting empty as I haven't been home to take it down. Long story short I spotted one shrimp, moved some things over to a 1g I've had running for a while (was gonna be a planted pest snail tank but I got neither plants nor snails) and found a second shrimp. Today is the first I've seen them since bringing them home.

I was super excited as I was sad about getting rid of my betta because the 10g won't have space in my college dorm, and a 1g seemed like the perfect size. Someone told me that it's not a good size for amanos though, and I realized that even if they're tiny now they're going to get big. I'm struggling because I don't know any other hobbyists where the shrimp wouldn't immediately get eaten (think neo size or smaller), and I'm not sure what to do with these little guys. Will they survive a 1g for the college year until I can get them a permanent tank over the summer? Is there something else I can be doing for them?

Get a5gallon and just do a shrimp only tank
That's what I was hoping to do once I can scrounge up the money for it, but as far as finances I'm spread a little thin due to college. At the moment I'm hoping to just keep them safe until I can figure out what to do with them long term, to be honest. Thank you btw!
