I got a 70 Gals, tank, been running for 6 months., no problems until month 5. I had went for a holiday for about a week, leaving my sister to feed the fish, when i came back one guppy died, then one dwarf female gourami per week, until i lost 3 of them. Now my betta is dead along with my bristlenose and a neon.

I am sure it must be an outbreak of something but not a clue of what. Water parameters been fine all the time unless my test kit is giving me wrong readings. Got plants in the tank as well, which are keeping nitrates down to almost 0.

Any ideas as to what the disease could be? or what can i do to prevent any more losses?

could it be that the fish were overfed? how did the fish act previous to their deaths?

sorry to hear about your loss

If they did not show any signs of disease, it could have been caused by incorrect feeding, which, in turn, causes fatty degeneration of the internal organs. FDIO takes a very slow course (which may be why they died in month 5) but is, in the end, fatal. It happens when you feed your fish too many fats and carbohydrates in comparison to proteins, and can be avoided by feeding your fish with a variety of different things. If this is the case, though, you're not alone; FDIO is one of the greatest causes of death in aquarium fishes.

Good luck!!! Hope this helped.
