I love free stuff!!!

So I took a little drive over to the landscape supply store that's near by my house and I asked the guy there if they had any slab rock or slate for sale. The guy told me that the don't carry slate anymore, and they don't sell to the public because of all the problems it caused.

Bummer.

So then the other guy said - "It must be your lucky day. I just brought in a box of slate from my garden because my wife didn't want it anymore. Why don't you go have a look in the box and take anything you like" - for FREE! Apparently he was going to bury it in the back of the lot later today. Talk about good timing.

So anyway... I have cleaned off a piece and poured vinegar on it with no bubbles... is there anything else that I should to do to it to ensure it will be ok in my tank?

Clean the rock Thorougly (is that spelled right).

I boil any rocks for about 10 minutes then let it cool until it is room temp before adding it.

What a nice surprise! It's a great day when someone can, through such an act of kindness, make another person so happy!

I usually scrub my rocks to remove any dirt and boil them.
