I just saw the best thing ever

I came down this morning to discover that my honey gourami had built a bubble next which i thought was cool because ive only them for 2 weeks, then just after a fed them some brineshrimp i watched in amazement as the female swam over to the male and he kind of wrapped his body around her and they stayed this way for a while then she swam away, it was just so cool to watch, ive never had fish breed before and i dont think ill be able to raise any ina community tank but its still cool to me!!

In a community tank I wouldn't think the nest would survive but it must be an amazing sight! I would love to try to breed my dwarf gourami but I can't find any stores that have females. I think it would be great to try to raise some little gouramis!

just an update, they now keep doing funny dances supsended in the water, looks hillarious, the male is guarding the nest and he even chases the female but sometimes she starts chasing him around lol, one good thing is although the eggs want survive or hatch i have a spare 18" or 24" tank in teh shed so i can always set up a breeding tank in the futue

Way to go, Maestro! Most fish won't breed unless their food and environmental needs are met, so this shows you are doing a good job of providing for your fish!
