Hi , started a homemade co2 yeast reactor yesterday and today bubble are comming out of the tube constantly. I am worried it is too much....How do I tell if I am adding too much? I am using a "Hagen bubble counter"; it has ladder like rows that hold the bubble of co2 in the water after they are expelled from the co2 reactor. The rows are full of co2 bubbles now , is this too much?

I know about testing pH with regards to co2 however my test seems to be hard to read accurately, I will buy a different test soon..

Aside: my plants close to the bubble counter are expelling bubbles, and I mean fast....is this normal? I am almost certain they didnt do that before co2 injection...

The tank is 29g with lots of live plants and about 1.7 watts per gallon

Thanks

You need a ph testkit and a KH testkit and then you cross reference them on a co2 chart to give you the amount of co2 you are adding, theres one at the end of the page in this link or you can use the calculator.

The bubbles you are seeing coming from the plants is called pearling, when the water is saturated with oxygen this will occur.

Have a look at the pinned article on carbon dioxide at the top of this section of the forum, it will explain it in more detail.
