I currently have a 10-gallon tank.
I put a Dwarf Gourami and a tetra (not sure what kind of tetra... it's black and silver with long fins black/white fins). I was wondering what could get along in there? I know you're not supposed to have those fish together, but they get along VERY well and aren't depressed that there aren't any other fish of their own kind. So, what else would work in there?

You can keep them together. And yes that tetra is depressed that there arent others like him around.
that tetra sounds like a black fin tetra. And they should be kept in groups of six.

Personally I think that the tetra needs a bigger tank, because 10 isnt that much room for 6 of them. They get like 2inches long, and they get high.

You should take the tetra back to the store. If you really want tetras, go with some smaller ones, like neons. But you should wait a while, like 10 weeks, untill you get them

I guarantee that tetra will be infinitely happier with a shoal. It's not really fair to keep him by himself. It might be possible to keep a shoal in the ten gallon, depending on what type of tetra they are.

As dwarf gouramis are good fish for the community tank, you might want to consider other fish such as swordtails or platies, which are both friendly and fairly easy to take care of.

From what it sounds like, it's a black fin tetra. I think you could add a platy or swordfish (just like suggested above)!

Yes I agree, stupid of me, cycled with fish and lost black phantom tetras, only lonely tetra left. She is better now since I got the 4 long finned danios (after tank was cycled) and now I have named her Lucky because she survived my stupidity. She will be getting 3 more tetra friends very soon and she will be very happy. She is eating better and swimming around the tank, before the danios she stayed in the corner and ate very very little. I am happy now and will be happier when I get her some schooling buddies. :kana:
