I was in WalMart today and I decided to go through their fish section. This particular WM has decided to stop selling bettas.    They never used to have many in stock, the most I ever saw was 3, and they were always sick. So they just stopped selling them. There is a sign above the sink where they used to be that informs customers of their decision.

They have also started to Quarantine their fish. All of their fish are not for sale until September 9th. They also have a tank that has breeding cichlids in it. I am not sure what kind, because it is on the bottom shelf with a note taped to the tank asking customers to respect their privacy as they are parenting their babies.

All of their tanks are sparkly clean, and were the last time I was in there too. Not one dead fish, and all of the fish looked healthy.

I just thought I would share the good news. :kana:

Yay! :D It's good to hear some postive LFS news once in a while.

That's great about the breeding cichlids tank... too many times have I walked into the pet stores around here and seen tanks full of breeding convicts fighting with incompatible fish. :(

Anywya, WM, keep up the good work.

I think they should be like Kmart and just stop selling fish/live animals all together. Or atleast all the Kmarts around here did..but that was 10 years ago.

That's good that that one has tried to clean up it's act though.

Yeah none of the K-marts here sell live fish. :) Before I was born, they sold a massive variety of pets.

Wow, we don't even have Kmart here anymore. It has been gone for years. I have a feeling that this WM may be fazing out fish all together. Over 1/2 of their tanks only had plants for sale. Then there was the tank with the convicts in it and maybe 4-5 tanks with fish.

I am glad to see my WalMart isn't the only one cleaning up their act. So many fishy lives saved!

The Walmart I go to still sells Bettas, but they have improved the conditions.
