my step mom wont let my get any more bettas. she said "me an your dad were jus talking in we think you already have entirly tomany fish, we have to pay for the pumps an lighting."

FOR GODS SAKE!! i have 1 betta(in a bowl that takes to pump or light) an i have 2 10gals. THATS IT!!!. thats sooo freaking retarded!!!

im going to talk to my dad an offer him 5$ a week so i can get more fish. after all it is my step mom that said that. an usually my dad has no idea that she tells me these stupid rules...so well see how it works out.

ya. to bad she hates all animals of every shape an form. she hates my dads dog. she hates my ball pythons. she hates my turantulla. an she hates all my fish. i cant even get her to look at show bettas. i cant even get her to look at at comp when i act like theres something interesting on it. as a matter of fact the way this whole thing telling me i cant have any more fish was i said "look at these bettas. i might buy this pair" then she started sayin how she has to pay the electric bill...2 lights. 2 air pumps. 1 whisper filter. HOW MUCH ELECTRICITY CAN IT TAKE FOR GOD SAKES!!! NOT LIKE IT TAKES THE HOOVER DAMN TO POWER!!!

i would suggest not yelling back at her, or being 'smart' with her, you know how parents are. try talking calmly, and suggesting a compromise, your idea of paying the 5$ is a good idea. don't raise your voice though!! just talk calmly, and if she starts to raise her voice, calmly tell her that it is not necessary for her to spek like that, and you would rather like to talk to her later on that evening or afternoon, until she has had a chance to calm down and speak rationally.

that's what we do here at the office, and it works very well. good luck though with anything you do try!!!!!

lol i highly doubt she would calm down. well im thinking im going to get rid of all my fish an everything(sept my betta) an start all over. then ill start breading plataks...after all its not really BUYING if it comes out of my own fish! lol but ya i wont be able to talk to my dad or step mom till like monday or sunday cuz they went on a cannoe trip...wow it sure was nice to be invited, like my step bro was.( he really was invited but didnt go)

sooo EFFING gay. im moving out as soon as i turn 18....an dedicating a room to fish!!! MUHAHA!!! REBEL I MUST!

oh ya. my GF(be dating 1year in september 27 OH YA LONGEST RELATIONSHIP EVER!!!) but ya she said when we get married we can dedacate a whole room of the house th bettas. but we have to paint the walls light purple like flooofies(3 o's) fins...

Ummmm *Puts up her hand in the hope of not getting things thrown at her*. You say you also have a ball python and a tarantula? Plus the three tanks? Hmmm, be fair they may not chew much power but it adds up. Obviously there's some sort of problem in the house if you aren't being included where your step brother is. Comes across that there is no love lost between you and your step Mum either. I have to say maybe there's the problem. Not the animals. If you two have an attitude with each other (and being 17, which I am assuming you are) is not going to make the problem go away. It has to be addressed and it may well have to start with you. If she is just seeing an aggressive young man invading what she now sees as her territory she won't like it and your Father will back down to her. Sad thought it is. You need to have her on your side. Try working at it. In an adult manner! Good luck.

well since you've listed all your pets there, it does sound like you have quite a few, i would understand what your parents mean if u have all those critters, but bettas dont require electricity, infact if ur room temp its 75F or more all u need is a 1g bowl and water. how old are you? you should be able to find a job, you sound pretty responsible considering all the pets you have, i mean some one as young as 12 around here can work as a farm habd for 5 bux an hours, that would be more than enogh to cover your pet expenses and electrisity use.

well to start off the only reason i have all these pets its- the ball pythons she got my dad for their anniversury an he lost enterest in them an jus gave them to me(i really didnt even want them cuz they cost about 10$ a week to feed) the trantulla SHE gave to me from one of her friends who was looking fro a good home. so that only leaves the betta an tiger tank an betta that i actually paid for. an i do have a job. makin 6.25$ an hour and i have 4,000$ in the bank a car(that i take good care of an pay insurance on) an a cell phone that i pay the bills for too.

sometimes we get along. like when im doing something for her. but last friday i decided to do a whole clean up on my tiger barb tank an i was out side takeing water to the ditch to dumb an she said " why do you clean that tank soo much. they are just fish, not like they can tell if their tank is clean" .... all i could really say is " i clean it so they dont die, an yes they can tell if their tank is dirty. you know when the house if dirty, their really is no difference from me cleaning their tank an you cleaning up after your son"

when i refure to my step bro when im talking to her i call him "your son" cuz i really dont like him. an i had a nice big room all to my self till he moved in.

ugh, I soooo know what you're going through! My stepmom is hell's spawn too. Except, she's more critical about my dog. My dad was going to let me get another Border Collie until she opened her mouth... its like, everything she says GOES. And she doesn't work or anything, she just shops all day and orders crap clothes and gets plastic surgery.. and then asks why I spend so much time/money on my pup and my Bettas. sorry, I actually VALUE my living, feeling pets. Frickin shallow witches.

I totally get all of that "are you cleaning their tanks AGAIN?!" routine all the time... she thinks I only have to clean a 2.5g tank once a month, at the most . I also pay for everything, and I work at a pet store so I obviously get discounts. I think people who hate animals and pets also tend to care much less about everyone but themselves. They're SO self-absorbed that they can't even fathom putting any money or effort into anything but themselves xP. I'm also super excited to move out next year! I'm renting a house with 2 friends, once of which has a dog and bettas, and I can actually make decisions for myself instead of being under the control of my evil stepmom. I actually love my real Mom, she completely supports my Betta addiction and has even caught it (she just rescued her own Betta boy )!

anyway, hang in there. Definitely try to be the bigger person, and try to negotiate with her.. as hopeless as that seems

wow man you have cash, lol i couldn't even afford to buy my car and i can even begin to pay insurance, she cant not like animals that much, she is the reason for most of your pets, dont see how she would complain, sounds like a fish specific issue. all i can say is just get the fish and pretend she isn't there, i mean if u get teh fish what's the worst she can do?

~ and if u ever need to unload some ball pythons, lemme know, i could probably talk my parents into letting be keep one.
