I had included Bob  the delta tail Betta in my 39 gallon community tank. He seemed to get along with all its inhabitants up until this morining. When Minnie the little Mickey Mouse platty showed an interest in Bob's freeze dried grubs at chow time. Bob went ballistic and turned in Minnie like a fr---n shark.

Minnie now has a good chunk of skin missing from the top of her head. Needless to say my daughters were devastated and very concerned about Minnie's head and Bob's future.

Bob has been moved to a new 10 gallon tank which I had to rush out and buy. I divided the tank figuring I might as well get another Betta while I am at it. :D

I know Betta's have been included in community tanks before but I don't think I'll go down that road again. It's way to hard on me and my blood pressure is high enough. :drink:

Sorry you had to learn that way. They're really not to be trusted with other fish for too long. They do well for a period of time and then someone crosses them and...
I love bettas :p Best wishes to Minnie.

I tried a male betta in a community once. I had a paradise gourami in the tank as well. The LPS guy said they would be fine together. So a couple days later my paradise fish had no tail at all. She died a few hours later. :-( Then the betta died a couple days after as well. :-(
