So I got three new cool looking plant safe snails and a bunch of MTS. I had always planned on adding some clown loaches to the tank but it now occurs to me that this would not be the best idea. Correct?

If so are there any other loaches that won't eat my snail population

You may have some problems if you want to add clowns. They'll certainly take a shot at your snails every once and a while, if not just attack them wholeheartedly. If your snails are a lot bigger than anything the clowns could eat, then for the while you should be okay. But keep in mind that sooner or later those clowns will get hungry, and snails are their natural prey.

Thanks. Is there another type of loach that is more snail safe or is snailicide universal through out the loach family?

I think most loaches are all snail eaters - you might be able to try kuhlli loaches though.

I think a coolie loach would be the only chance, but I think they like snails to. Loaches are knowen to like to eat snails.
