well, was going around to various lfs last night pricing future fish and supplies. i have had a tank up and ready for a dwarf puffer, minus a couple more fake plants, but since the one lfs that did carry them was out and wanted $10 for one, i was going to wait to actually get one until after the new year. well, i went into the last lfs and was just looking for bumblebee gobies, since i knew they were one place that carried them as fw. anywho, low and behold, i came across a tank with four little dwarf puffers in it. and for the excellent price of $2.99. well, i took the biggest one home, along with some live food.
i had to go to class so he was alone in his new tank for 2 hours, and in that time managaed to eat almost all the snails i had in there for him.
he's now swimming around and inspecting the plants. will be getting him a heat tonight along with some more food.
i'm sooooooo happy now. petey is in his own little bachelor pad that i've dubbed "puffer paradise", and he has 5.5 gal all to himself and seems quite happy about it. :D

hopefully i'll get some pics this weekend :D
i can't wait to get home from work to watch him

he's lovin it. he now shares it with three bumblebee gobies, and so far no problems. he's a fairly placid puffer, part of the reason i picked him out the four (the other three kept bullying him out of the little piece of wood that was the lone decor in the lfs tank........), so hopefully they will continue to get along. if not, i have a place for the gobies. i've changed his name, went for cheese and did a musketeers things with the tank residents, but porthos the puffer works too (though he's more of a petey in personality  ). he's gotten his color back and he nice sharp markings so i know hes settling in nicely. he loves his live tubifex worms and filled his little puffer belly on them last night. :D i love to just sit and watch him swim, they swim so differently.

I've just baught my first 2 dwarf puffers aint they briliant!!They have so much caracter. My keyhole cichlids did'nt agree though. How is yours douing??

he's doing so well. he and the gobies are still living harmoniously. along with some feeder ghost shrimp, that none of them are interested in eating. oh well, the ghosts help clean up the uneaten brine shrimp so they can just stay in there. i've found my puffer won't eat food unless its moving. he completely ignored the frozen brine shrimp and frozen bloodworms once they finished falling through the water, though he picked at some as tehy fell. but he loves his live tubifex worms and live brine shrimp, its so fun to watch him strike at the worm and suck it down. and i love the way his eyes move about, gives him so much character. i'm thinking of setting up a second tank with more puffers, but porthos/petey will get to stay where he is as he seems quite happy and content to be the only puffer. :D
