I Got My Betta Rescues!

Hey everyone! I'm sure you remember the rescues that BettaBum had on here a few weeks ago. i was lucky enough to get three of the guys! She sent them out last Monday (the 17th) but the post office was stupid and didn't get them to me until today. But, they seem to be okay. They got their color back with in a few hours. They were VERY pale when they got here. But I think they are going to be alright!

So, I said I would put up pictures when I got them, so I'm going to keep my word.

Okay, so this is what the set up looks like. This picture was taken before the boys were here. And so you all know, as soon as I get the money I am going to buy tanks to replace the vase and the rubbermaid thing. I just needed something to keep them in for now. But like it says in the picture, both are at least one gallon.

And this is Jesse. He is in the vase in the set up picture.

This is RazBarry (named after my husband's dad, Barry) formally known as Tequilla. He is in one of the one gallon tanks.

And this is Waffle. He isn't very clear in the pictures because he is in the blue colored rubbermaid container. These are the best pictures I could get.

And so Draco doesn't feel left out, here is a picture of him. This picture was taken almost a week ago (I have had him for two weeks today). His fins have loosened up since then. I need to get new pictures!!

Well, those are my boys!! I'm so proud to be a mamma to four handsome boys!! And my daughter...

Lovely fishes, but not that vase! Sorry you probably love those rescues but those vases make me go all cold inside. Couldnt you put him in the plastic box?

Looks great! Some people keep their bettas in bowls, a vase is just a differently shaped bowl. I don't have any fish in vases, but you're right in a pinch, they're perfect.

ps- Did you notice all your fish have red on them? Interesting...

I know you guys don't like the vases, but it is a BIG vase!!! It hold right at one gallon. And I looked all over the house for something else to put him in, and I don't have anything, except another rubbermaid thing, but I am sure it holds less than a gallon. I'm cleaning it out today, and I'll find out how much it holds. If it is at least a gallon, I'll put him in that. But it is that blue color, and I'm sure it is hard to see out of. I know it is hard to see in. And he seems to be doing just fine in the vase for now.

I just need a few weeks to get about $25 (I'm a stay at home mom, so all my extra money comes from my husband) and I will buy two ten gallons and dividers and one heater (I already have one) and I will put them all in those.

Thank you for the complements on the fish. And yes, I know they all have red. That's cuz they are all LFS rescues...the majority of LFS bettas have red on them.

I moved Jesse (the one from the vase) into the little rubbermaid thing I was talking about. It is just under a gallon (I believe) but it is shallow and long, so he has more room to swim around instead of it being deep and not so wide like the vase was. So, don't worry, be happy!!

its not all about volume. its all about surface area. even though its a gallon, it still might not be suitable. i have containers that hold like .3 gallons, and they seem better and more roomy than the 1 gallon glass bowls i have
