I noticed you had the ugf plates and a hang on the back filter. How are you going to use the ugf. I hook a canister up to my ugf and it seems to work great. The plates are always clean and it saves on alot of maintenence cause the filter isn't sucking all the garbage in it. Incase you have a big time digger it keeps the filtration running smooth rather than a free flow.
Yeah I don't really know what I am going to do as far as filtration. Thus far my main filtration will be the Rena XP3... I don't know if I will use the UGF because 1 I don't know how 2 I really don't want to.
The UGF are useless on cichlid tanks as soon as the fish dig down to it which they will the water bypasses the substrate so does not filter, how about sticking another xp2 on as well as your xp3 that should be plenty.
There the under gravel filter plates. I must be real lucky cause my cichlids have yet to dig mine up. I do know its a good possibility but thts why i hook my canister filter up to the ugf plates. That way if it does get dug up i'm still filtering.
