I Got A Worrying Sound! Help !

Just latley i got a nasty sound comeing from my tank!! its like a cracking sound like the sound of a heater hitting the glass of your tank!!(its not that btw)

Its only started this since iv tock out my old rock and put in my new rock! and it dont always hear the sound!

im worry cos i got a pipe for my sump that goes up the middle could it be this? (its plastic and wouldnt make the noise)

i thort it mite be the fish hitting agenst the rock witch hits the glass( but when im watching it and hearing the noise i can see most of the fish)

The noise seems to moreley in the morning and at night if i dont get to the bottom of the noise i think im going have to compltley empty the tank and inspect it over as its tureley worrying the heck outa me!!!

there no loss of water so thre cant be a crack??!??!? the only other thing iv added is a bigger sea urchin ( i had a small one for ages with no noises do bigger ones tend to make funny nosies?

Pistol shrimp or mantis shrimp it sounds like. Use a plastic stick of some sort and slowly and gentally stir your sand (don't cause a storm) you might be able to see it shoot out of the sand. Once you get a position you can take it out if you feel like that would be good.

Both are popular shrimp and you may be able to get some money selling it.

HAHAHA you no what it makes 100% sence!!! when i got my new live rock i see somethink in the other persons tank and he said it was some shrimp!! he asked if i wanted it? i was like yeah go on then!

she keeps moveing the sand away from her home (anemone) shud i push it back or leave it as is?i can see the bottom of my tank

You can push it back, but she'll just keep moving it. Nesting behavior...

as for the shrimp, i dont know bout the other one but mantis shrimp .lmao. just dont put your fingers near the lil bugger or youll loose em haha.
probably best to remove him cause he could cause trouble with your fish or continue to smack the glass wherever he is and i would be concerened myself bout him cracking through the glass but im not sure, ive just been warned against the whole finger snapping thing lol.
