I need advice i think one of my cold water fish has parasites or something in its stomach but not really sure.It seems alot less active than normal and tends to lie at the bottom of the tank or in a corner alot ,it has a really long thread of poo coming from it which parts of il look silver and clear with like little bubbles inside  YUk.....the other fish seem ok but i have noticed that one other has become a little less active today. They are all eating ok,and my water perams are good.Do you think it could be parasites and if so will the other fish get it? What should i do can anyone help me please?
Thanx in advance
SUE
By the way incase its important i feed them with dry flake mix and a treat of blood worms.

I am not sure what this is but if I were you I would take the fish out that are not looking too good to reduce the risk of infection to your other fish.
Put them in a separate tank, with nothing in it other than water.
Do a 10 -15% water change on your community tank.
Do regular water changes on the hospital tank.

I MUST STRESS THAT I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS SO I WOULD WAIT FOR SOMEONE ELSES RESPONSE TO THIS THREAD AS WELL BUT DO SEPARATE THE ILL FISH FROM THE COMMUNITY.

If it's an internal thing Epsom salts (about £1 from Boots) are good. Just add it to the hospital tank at a dose of normal aquarium salts (rounded tablespoon per 19 litres).

Beware, you'll get funny looks as they are used to treat constipation. If you have this or a similar problem again you should try a routine of fasting the fish on the 6th day and feeding de-shelled peas on the 7th (that's if you feed everyday, if not feed as normal with peas once a week).

That's what I did ;)

You said 2 fish were moved to the hospital tank? If there's more than one fish with the same symptoms, I'd personally treat the whole tank.

:)

P.S. With fancy goldfish, to avoid Swim Bladder Disorder (fancies are very suseptable to this, it causes bloating and an inability to either go to the bottom or the top) you should pre-soak flakes before feeding in some tank water until the sink. This helps stop the fish taking in excess air.
