I have had him for a little over a week or wait a minute I got him December 2 I was looking at him and noticed his belly is sunk in and he is staying in one place all the time. I have offered him blood worms and algee disk shrimp pellets witn no luck at all. I checked the water and the ammonia is 0 the Nitrites is o too. The nitrate is 10. I dont know if that is good on them or not. Could some of you Golden Nugget owners please let me know what to do in this matter. Also mabey you all could help me out with this fish as far as its needs and everything like that... Thanks all..... :-(

drift or bog wood wouldn't hurt, i've read they are grazers, i just bought a gold nugget myself and i notice him cleaning the glass every now and again but i haven't watched the tank he's in too much in hopes he'll get his gold spots (they're whitish right now  )

Angel Lady:

Feed the golden about 20 min after the lights are out. Yes they are grazers but also eat meaty foods.
The Sunken belly is not a good sign, but DO NOT GIVE UP!
Have you tried Zuccini or Cucumber?
Also, try posting in the Catfish section, I know those guys can give you some tips....
Good luck, and keep us informed!!!!!! :)

I have always wanted me one of these I guess I should have waited until I had done some more research on them. But he was on sale for 30 dolllars and I said to my self it is time for me to buy one. When you said they are meat eaters what kind of meat did you mean????I have blood worms and fresh shrimp that has never been cooked I could cut it up real fine....

This always helps the Catfish people......

Planet Catfish, I don't know how to link, cause well, me Computer Stooopid, but I found you some info on Gold Nuggies
http://www.planetcatfish.com/core/index/php

This is a quatlity site with good basic info
Meaty foods can be blood worms, brine shrimp...etc.

Good luck with the little guy, and I know how you feel about always wanting one, me too! :shifty:
I have had mine for about a month, but I bought one a little older, paid more, but eh? Gotta have one :D
Keep us informed on how he/she is doing!
