Well, today I finally gave in to the temptation and brought three otocinclus!! I have been wondering about these fish for a while and as I still had plenty of room in my tank I decided to buy three! I named them Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot!!!
I'm afriad the pictures are of bad quality as they are taken on my phone but at least I have some!
Arthur has a larger black area before his caudal fin, Guinevere has lighter markings and Lancelot is......well the other one!!!
I have to say these fish are addictive to watch!! They are real hoovers. I was expecting them to shoal/school more but they don't at all really, in fact they don't seem to bother about one another.
I am really glad that I brought these as they are really very cute!!
I just had to post on here as when I told my friends they just laughed and sighed at me............ why or why don't they understand?!?!?!?!
Anyway, enough of the ramblings, here are the pictures! I'll try and take some more soon and get some better quality shots. They look amazing on my phone but not so good on here!
FIRSTLY ARTHUR (well the king had to go first really!!)

SECOND GUINEVERE (yes that is how you spell it!!) You can't really see her colours on this shot, they are very different!

THIRD LANCELOT (ummmmmmm..... as I said the other one!!!)

EDIT: After looking closer (desperate to find something to set him apart from the others (!) Lancelot has a gap on his right on his black stripe! I don't think it's a defect!!)

Good luck with them.I can never get hold of any where I live.Have read here that they are quite sensitive for the first few weeks so fingers crossed :D

Awwww bless. I have three of them too and have had no trouble with them at all (Crosses fingers). They've done a brilliant job of the algea problem I had in my 35g, despite it being full of live plants that grow like there's no tomorrow. Seems it grows back pretty fast though cos they're still busy. I do offer them algea wafers too of course. :)
They can really move fast when they want too! And then for their lil white bellies to suddenly appear tis funny.
Best of luck with them.
Hugs,
P.

Thanks! I love them!!!!!!
I am really addicted. My tank is well developed now so I shouldn't have any problems but I will be keeping a close eye on them, like I do with all my fish I've done a water change today and may do another tiny one tomorrow when I do my betta tanks as I normally have a small amount of dechlorinated water left over and don't want to throw moneuy down the drain!!! It will only be a 5-10% change after a 15% today but as I'm expecting fry anyday I like to keep the water quality PERFECT!!! That should help them if they are sensitive in the first few weeks!!
Thanks guys!!
Do you approve of the names by the way?
They are going with -
Ariel and Nemo (platties)
Jack and Jill (columbian tetra)
Lion, Tiger, Sphinxy, Lynx, Panther, Leopard, Moggy, Puma (Guppies)
Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, Joey (Neon Tetra)
Claude (Baby Bristlenose)
Jean-Bob (Amano Shrimp)
Tinkerbell, Titania, Oberon, Puck and Peter Pan (Bettas)

Basically each group/species of fish have related names!!

Hi,

I'm really jealous.

I would love a group of three Oto's but I'm waiting until i've got a 20 gallon tank.

I hope they settle in well.

Keep us posted. I'd be really interested in how you get on with them as I read everywhere that they are difficult to keep especially in the first few weeks.

Also .........

can you seriously tell the difference between all of your Neon Tetra?

I have 5 Flame Tetra and I can only guess there identities by where they usually are in the tank.

ie alpha male in the middle etc etc.

Andy

They are the hardest to tell the difference but yes......just, mainly by where they are in the tank and the size and the colouring!
I forgot I also have 4 Harlequin Rasbora - Amythest, Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond!!!

I've only named one of my fish so far my alpha Flame Tetra who bosses everyone around. He swims right in the middle of the take and takes it in turns "letting the other fish know he's there".

I've named him "Ray" after Ray Winston aka "The Daddy" (from the movie Scum).

It takes me ages to decide on names.

:kewlpics: They look good. Im just too afraid to keep any. They arent that common around here, and when you do find some they are very small and kinda expensive.

:dunno: Mine were only £2 each and I can normally find them everywhrere I try!
They are all doing really well today. Still not anywhere near each other really although Arthur and Guinevere tend to stay closer to each other (kinda strange that it has happened like this) Maybe Lancelot steals Guinevere when I'm not looking for their affair!!!!!!
I'm so pleased they are all doing well today.
Unfotunately I've had a bit of an event with one of my fish in isolation (from work) who's given birth!! SO although I have succeeded in changing my Betta tank I am not sure I'll be able to do the main tank today!!!! It was done yesterday though so I'm not too worried! They all look happy enough though apart from Claude (my baby bristlenose) who looks a bit put off that he has to share his fod with three more fish!!
