I Found My First Jumper Today..

I was taking a look at all the fishies today and noticed Gracie wasn't in her tank. I looked all over her tank and couldn't find her.. so I looked behind the stand and there she was on the floor.. all dried up. She had a lid but there was a teeny tiny opening on an angle for air.. I guess she managed to get out from there.

Yep, Gracie was bred to Angel a while back. I still have all the babies that survived the ich attack in the grow out. I never sold them because they were stunted, so I figured I'd just give it another go. Guess that's the end of my Opaque line.

What does stunted mean? Do you still have any? If you do, I might be interested in purchaseing one if you'll let me.

I was thinking the same thing. OhMyDog is in Vancover. I want to be sure the infections that hit my Bettas are fully under control though.

I have about 8 opaque babies left. They're at least a good 6 months now but still look like teeny tiny juvies. They were stunted (growth-wise) because I made the mistake of not doing enough WCs. They're all very healthy but I don't think shipping them would be a good idea because of their small size.

I'm taking a break from breeding for now because of some things going on with my dogs but when I get started again, I'm going to seek out an Opaque pair and give it another go.

well, it isn't necessarily the end of your opaque line. If the stunting isn't a result of the genetics of the fish but external influences, then there's no reason that it should pass on to the fry if you bred a sibling pair, or one of the females to Angel.
