After feeding my fish tonight, I sat and watched the ones in the 10 gallon for awhile (haven't had time to do that the last few days). While watching, I saw a fry! I watched some more and then saw another fry! My boyfriend (who has gotten up from trying to sleep) and I have been watching 'em for awhile now. They're quite cute  I checked my records and these fry were born about 10 days ago. They already have black on them - if I remember correctly that's early than the breeder-net-raised fry got black.

My boyfriend has been sitting over there for five or ten minutes now and gives me frequent updates   He wonders if there are "nanny" fish that will watch over the fry, as the last few days my usually-shy-and-often-chased female has gotten more aggressive towards the male that always chases her. He said it makes him wonder if she knows the fry are there and is trying to protect 'em. He just told me he keeps hoping to see more fry!  I'll make a fishy-lover out of him yet!

I'm sort of surprised they've surprised the Betta being in there  Maybe there were more before I put Spiderman back in :X Ah well...I don't have room for all the fry I have now, so if they get eaten, well :dunno: I have a five gallon tank and a ten gallon tank and ten fry. Two fry are in the ten gallon with four adult Platys, three Corys, a Pleco, and a Betta in the ten gallon. The other eight fry are in the five gallon (and quickly outgrowing it!). I do have somebody who will take some of them from me once they're a little bigger.

The boyfriend, Kevin, wants me to go give the fish some tubifix worms because he thinks the fry will like them   His latest comment was "Wow, you can see all the anatomy on the fry" in an awed voice. :)

The best food for fry is just hatched brine shrimp. If you can afford it (shouldn't be too expensive) you can get a brine shrimp hatchery and hatch your own shrimp to feed them. The other fish in the tank will go nuts over it too. Live food is good for the fish and bettas absolutely LOVE live food (especially brine shrimp and baby fish like your fry!).

well I dunno what fish had them, and how much youre sellin them for, how long will you be willing to hold them. I'm getting a new 60 gallon setup sometime near christmas maybe I will buy some then. But I understand if you dont wanna wait that long.

The fry are Platys. Never thought of charging anything for 'em...(not that I would turn down money if it were offered, mind you :) ). I'll have 'em until they're gone. And I'm sure there will always be more - they are Platys after all! Let me know if you're interested (either by posting here, sending me a PM, or an e-mail).
