I Found 2 Snails.

Hi sorry I didn't know where to post this. As I was feeding my 2 platys I noticed an orange thing on the side of the glass. I looked closer and it was a snail then out the corner of my eye I noticed one on the other side too. I went to get my phone to take a pic and the first one was gone I definitely didn't imagine it, there were 2. I managed to get a pic of the 2nd one but they seem to have disappeared.
It's not very clear but just to show you the colour.

These are the plants I have in my tank will they have come from them?

I have never seen them before and now they seem to have gone. What type of snails are these please and are they harmful?

They are tadpole snails (Physa spp.) and completely harmless, actually beneficial (they will eat algae and waste food, otherwise it would rot). Yes, they will have come on the plants .

They can breed very, very fast so make sure you do a good job of cleaning the tank if you don't want to have loads of snails, as any algae or mulm will be eaten by these guys and they will breed. Waste food=more snails.

I try to encourage them in my tanks as I find them interesting but many try to get rid of them, though like I said, totally harmless .

Thanks for the info I thought they were cute lol so tiny. I just don't know where they are they moved so fast! I will keep an eye out though, don't want my tank being over run by them.
