Rite... Ive got 2 pearl gouramis,3 penguin tetras,2 platys and ive got 2 gold fish..!!

Ive been thinking about givin my gold fish away to my LFS... But i dont know what to do next... My water is 100% spot on clean, and everything is complete (with hiding places and plantation). So what do i do... The tank is 96 litre 80cm x 30cm x 40cm....

I was thinking of getting an Upside Down Catfish amongst other fish...

Any suggestions..!?

Clean is not necessarily good. Is your tank cycled? Please say it's cycled, otherwise there could be some tragedies soon, especially with the goldfish in there.

We need to know more about your tank. How long have you had it? What are your water parameters? (if you don't understand any of my questions tell me because that's important information too)

You do need to get those goldfish out of there before they pollute your water and kill your tropical stock. How about dropping them in a neighbour's pond? Pond keepers are usually grateful to receive free fish IME.

You will eventually need to get more tetras and platties because they're schooling fish and need to be in groups of at least 6. Upside-down catfish are certainly something you could look towards getting, but before you rush head-long into disaster, I suggest pausing and making sure that you've got your tank in a stable (rather than necessarily clean) condition. Don't by anything until you're certain you know what you're doing - things like upside-down catfish are tricky fish and expensive and you don't want to kill them off within days of buying them.

You've done a lot of things right (such as not buying too many fish to start), but if you could answer my questions we can help you further. Thanks!

Ohh No... Youve got me quite rong...LOL....

By saying my tank is clean, What i mean is that its all safe... No Amonia what so ever, Nore are there any Nitrite or Nitrate... The Ph is about 6.5 to 7.0... My LFS said that with the local water round my area, That is quite good...

And yeah.. My tank has cycled..
So what i mean by my tank being "clean" is that my tank is 100% tropical fish tank "OK"....

So...

Does that Help any more than what i said before...?? (sorry for not being specific)

Trade in the goldfish. 96 litres is about 25 gallons (I think) and that is barely enough for the goldfish by themselves, let alone with other fish. How about some clean up crew - cories   The most fantastic little cleaners available. If you get 4 of the same kind, they'll eat all the food that drops. Before you do get them, how long has your tank been stable for?

its been stable for about a month..then had a bit of trouble with nitrate..But that wuz cuz i was being stupid and didnt think a single thought that i may have over fed a couple of times... But now thats all sorted...its been SPOT ON for about 7 weeks now...

Bare in mind this aint my 1st tank...(with tropical fish)

Good to hear, go for the cories - trade in the goldfish. Just my opinion, but whatever you do, only add your fish slowly - give the biological filter time to catch up. Also, I don't know if you have any salt in your tank - cories hate salt, it could killl them. In fact, any scaleless fish can't be in a tank that has salt . Let us know what you decide.

Yeah...I know about the fast "shock and awe" style ppl use wen theyre newly into tropical fish keeping....

Well...Corys it is then at the mo......

Thanx once again..!!
