I had an old betta keeper in the basement that I've been itching to bring to the office and use for somebody special. After Sara died, I thought about it quite a bit more.
Last night I cleaned the tank all up, fixed it up with gravel and a plastic plant and put some water from my 35 gal into it. This morning I very carefully drove the hour to work with it on my front seat and successfully got it into the office without spilling more then an ounce! Yay me!!
Today at lunch I went to PetSmart (yes I know but it's the closest to me at work) and looked at every betta they had. ( I often have a very hard time deciding!)
I had finally narrowed it down to 3 - one purplish white fellow, one whiter navy blue marbled fellow and what I call an american flag fellow. (red, white and blue!0
Then, I felt these eyes on me and looked to my left. There, on the very top second jar in was this little pink guy. Yes, pink! He was staring at me very intently with these two dark eyes and well, that was it.
He seems to like the tank well enough (it's a bit small as per board standards but that will be rectified one day, I think it holds 2 liters if my measurements were right) and has settled in nicely. He is watching me now as I type.
I have secretly named him Pinky, while everyone else in the office is calling him Justice. (we work in a law firm)
I will post pics one of these days when I have a few minutes and can remember to bring the camera in!
He's sooooo cute!! I wuv him already!
