It seems like this weekend has been the weekend for betta spawnings!
On Friday night I spent most of the evening setting up two spawnings...Spawning #1: Blue Marble CT Plakat male x Blue Marble female and Spawning #2: Yellow Plakat male x Green/Gold female.
The blue marble CT male built a wonderful bubblenest and the female was showing positive signs that she wanted to breed, so I released her. The spawning quickly went sour and I ended up having to remove the femle. However, I didn't give up! I placed my yellow CT female in the breeding trap inside the spawning tank, because she is extremely "fat" with eggs. Anyway, she was showing positive signs, so I released her. So far, there isn't much going on. The male will try and entice her into breeding, but she keeps running away and hiding in the plants. She doesnt' seem stressed...she just doesn't want to cooperate. So, for the time being, I am going to let nature takes it course and hope that things will turn around.

The second spawning has been going pretty well. The yellow plakat male built a HUGE bubblenest!
On Sat. night, I placed the female's tank next to the spawning tank to allow them to "get-to-know" eachother. Sunday morning, I placed her in the breeding trap and kept an eye on them. Later that night, the female was showing very positive breeding signs, so I released her. Again, not much is happening....the female is hanging out by the plants, while the male prances around her and flares. She is getting a tad beat up, but still nothing serious. I really hope that something positive comes out of one of these spawnings.

Well, I just thought I would share a little about what is happening in my fishroom. I hope that I can post some good news later on today or tomorrow!
