I Caved..............

was in a Petco last night, just wanted to look and see what they had in females, since theyre one of the few places around here that seems to carry them. well, i made the mistake of checking out the new shipment of mutt males. now, i'm a sucker for certain colors, and what do i find hidden at the back of the shelf, but an almost white guy (has some pink, but i like him). so i snatched him up. since i once found a gorgeous yellow that i didn't buy (kick kick kick), and then found one not quite so spectacular (i bought that one, wasn't going to let a second go), i decided to poke some more, see if there were any other unique colored ones (as opposed to the usual blues and reds you typically see). well, i found a unique guy, not in color, but in tail. hes a crowntail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i quickly scooped him up and made my way to the checkout. he's that turquoise/blue/red combo, common colors, but still lovely. and for the price of a vt mutt.

both bettas are now at my office, they'll be making my workspace a little nicer to look at.

Congrats on your great find! I always get suckered into getting bettas also... unfortunately I went to the store the other night and bought yet another female betta too! I'm a sucker for a pouty face!

Anyway, glad you shared your story and enjoy your new additions!

Ohh you're so lucky to not be controlled by a "mate". I can't remember the last time I was able to just go fish shopping. I only have 2 bettas and I'm already at my limit even though I have an EMPTY 5g I could split into two areas.

haha snowy! actually, i hid them in my large tanks cabinet over night and snuck them to work this morning.............so the bf wouldn't know i'd spent more money on fish when i really don't have to money to be spending right now...........lol

I know what u mean snowyangel. My wife said if I get anymore fish she would just flush them and then kick me out of the house. Sometimes the married life just sucks.

Wow, I must be extremely lucky. My fiance supports my fish habit as long as I support his video game habit... lol... So, when he says: "Do you really need another fish?" I ask: "Do you really need another video game?" It's great if you have something to throw back at them...

well, over the weekend sometime the CT died. the white guy seems to be doing fine though (he's attacking his own reflection at the moment), so it may just be the CT wasn't a healthy guy (i only hope it wasn't the water, its awful here at the office, i treated it, but you never know). too bad, he was lovely.

sry to hear about ur ct MAM, its hard tofind cts anywhere in a lfs, all mine carry is vts and my petco is about an hour away so i dont make it there much. u mut male sounds really nice, and id like to c pics of ur white male attacking his reflection

i love bettas wish over here in newzealand thay had more kinds i only seem to find the blue ones and the red ones..oh and this new kind of black patches on white... looks strange if u ask me got little tails for males too

anyway to all the people whos bf, husbands, wifes and so forth have a hissy when u get new fish..just tell them its cheeper then horses .luckly i have a bf who is as big a fish geek as me, but does not like the fact im horse crazy,only alowed one horse at a time

i love seeing all the pics of ur bettas i will have to get a pic of mine.sadly he riped some of his fins doing something ( i have no clue what) but he has beautiful coulering a realy dark blue with a dark purpal shade..it took me months to find him i got sick of looking at blue/green things and red things
