I can't post a URL shortcut when I do and press the world button at the top I get this "Error! You must enter a URL You must enter a title" but it won't let me. Anybody know what this is.

just copy paste the url with http:// at the start and it should work fine (automatically turning up as a link).

Ok I know I can do that but I was just trying to cut back on space like you could write words and have it in blue because it was a link, I used to be able to do this but not anymore, if it's not big deal just posting a link then cool.

Thanks

try typing it out like this instead:
[ url=http://www.fishforums.net] TFF [ /url]

Without the spaces ofcourse :p

Some URL's are blacklisted and will not allow posting. I don't know what error, if any, the poster sees if they try to submit such a link. I suspect they will not see any error message as such, simply that their link doesn't work.

Of course you can get around it by using the URL feature (i.e using another word as the link).
I think the board software scans the message as it is submitted, thus it would still have the textural representation of the URL present. At that point, it would be replaced. It is when the board is presenting a link that the substitution becomes apparent.

To keep the original link, and process every link at run time to see if it should be replaced would add considerably to the presentation layer, slowing it where no such action was necessary.

As you say though, I suspect the poster will not get an error when the message is submitted, rather, their post will contain a non-functioning link.

yeah, i'm pretty positive that it just censors the url the same way that the board censors out ####ing bad words. :)shifty:) if the url is embedded in a text link, this appears as a dead link. if the url is directly displayed on the page, it appears as www.####

What erised said worked. when I click on it it says:

Error! You must enter a URL You must enter a title

It won't let me enter anything as soon as I click it that message pops up

How do you try and enter the information?
Apart from typing it out the way I told you before there's 2 ways that *should* work. If you click the button to 'Insert Link' you could fill in the URL you want and after that it should ask you for the title.

Another way of doing it is to type out what you want the title to say, hightlight it and Then click the 'Insert Link' button. This way you should only have to fill in the URL, the title will already be filled in for.

The error you're getting I only get when I click the x twice to exit the url and title box, not when I fill anything in, or even if I leave it blank. No clue what would be causing that error for you =/

I tried highlighting it and that worked but when I get the message I simply click it and I get that message, I haven't entered anything yet, I don't know but at least now I can make it work now, thanks.
