My tiger shovel nose is around 8-9" long. I keep him in a 96 gal tank with 2 golden sverums a BGK a large pleco and a large eel and an angel fish. But today when I got home, my 2 gold sevs had turned into 1 gold sev! but the amazing thing was that it was a good 3" long if not more and it was eaten by my shovel nose. My shovel nose now looks like it is 9month pregnant! I was told when I bought it not to home it with any fish that would fit in it's mouth. I never in a million years dreamt that his mouth could open that wide, nevermind swallow it without choking. I really like them both as well :-(

Hi ringham...we have a TSN too he is 17-18" now and still growing fast....i think ur gonna find lots ov ur fish going one by one. We had a 12" jardini arowana in with ours and even that was at risk ov being ate. It got rehomed cos ov its aggresion ( the aro that is) I didnt think there was a risk with tsn and aro until CFc pointed it out to me and now seeing how much our TSn eats i can well believe anything is possible.

It is to late now :-( My other golden sev was eaten on fri night!

After 2 and a half months of keeping and 3 black widows 2 golden sevs 1 tiger oscar I have decided to get rid of my precious TSn :-(

Oh well, it was fun whilst it lasted.

Keeping a super predatory fish that grows to over 4 feet in a tank with tank mates that do not match its growth rate is always going to end in tears. Here we have a prime example.

And let's face it, did you really have the room to handle a 4 foot fish? As in a tank/pond with minimum size of 12 feet by 8 feet by 5 feet? If not, then it's probably for the best it is returned.

the size of your tank is way to small for a TSN and you should now be setting up the 8ft long x 4ft wide tank that he is going to need in the next year

TSN grow to 3ft + but im sure you know new that when you got it unless you didnt do your resurch before you brought it

people should think before they buy a RTC or a TSN and i personaly think they should be banned from being sold in fish shops they are to big to be kept in home tanks :(

I agree with you about the fact that they shouldn't be sold unless ecseptinal circumstances (luike if you have a 1000 gal tank).

He is now gone and the other day when I took him back I bought some more tiger oscars to replace the ones he ate(and I know what I am doing when it comes to oscars).
