So tonight I decided to clean inside my Eheim Ecco filter because the water flow was getting noticeably worse. I should have read the directions first, but I figured that I had opened and closed it enough that it would be fine.
Unfortunately, I snapped plastic off a piece that helps hold the top on, rendering the filter useless:
Here's how it looked before (this is the other side):
After I collected all the broken plastic pieces that fell off, I managed to get the rest of the handle off (which connects to the part I broke) and I decided I would try to super glue it back together. The chemicals should be fine as they would all be on the outside of the canister.
Here's what it looked like when I finished:
I'm not 100% sure about it staying as it's a tiny piece of plastic glued together with a lot of pressure up against it, but then again I have a feeling there isn't any pressure once you make it air tight and have it running. Obviously if it failed I could easily have 25 gallons of water out on my 2nd story carpeted bedroom
I know it's not a big deal. Anyone can super glue something back together, but it's fully working now and I'm happy and it may be useful to someone in the future
