to take care of them. Will someone please tell me how to take care of these fish. I got me a deal on it. I paid a 100.00 dollars for the tank and fish and all filters lights and heater. Plus 3 Piranhas and I got a ten gallon to with a oscar also. I am running out of room in the house for all of these tanks and a I dont have the heart to give up not a fish. If I cannot get some onfo on these fish here then I will have to get rid of them.

Hidee Ho, Do a search on Piranah. You should get loads.

They are very easy to care for as long as you don't have a problem with feeder fish.

They are more shy than you would believe also. They like plenty of hidey holes too.

They are a fabulous fish enshrouded in many myths and mystiques.

Do you have the tank at home set up yet? If not, it would be a good idea to place a couple of inexpensive catfish in it before you reintroduce your piranah. They will help you keep up with cleaning.

What has feeder fish got to do with keeping piranha?

Like almost all predatory fish pirahnas will quite happilly accept frozen foods as a alternative to live and in the long run it will be better for them too. Trout and white fish fillets or large prawns (shrimp) are good alternatives.

Thanks CFC I will take your word for almost anything. I wouldnt have never bought them but the man I got them from has been going threw a rough time family problems and the poor fish didnt have a good home to go to. I cant stand the thoughts of anything not being took care of. So i went to the bank and got me some money and I got me a new 2 tanks and four new fish. I dont know how to take care of either one of them. But I will learn.

CFC said this because it is illegal to buy any feeders with a vertibrae where he is from. You can feed them feeder fish in the u.s. tho. It would make a good treat evry 1nce in a while :D

No he didn't say it just because of that. It is also a lot better because they don't take the risk of catching disease such as internal parasites. Also, the Oscar will need a bigger tank. Just to tell you that more space will be taken up in your house

Hi fish keeper sharks and mollies :)

Congratulations on your new tanks and fish.

You really have quite an interesting assortment of fish there! :D

Feeders are a very bad source of nutrition, and provide very little substance for all their worth. Frozen and freeze dried food is much healthier, and has more of what the fish needs in it.
Once you get fish used to the idea of feeders, they wont eat anything else, which is a expensive alternative yo regular feeding. Feeders can infect fish easily, and will almost definitely be the the demise of your fish.
Just stick with normal food and don't risk it. :)
