Then, as soon as I put it into the tank, it disappeared and I had not seen it for close to two months. I figured it just died and that was it. And then one day, I realized that it had turned my little volcano aerator into a home and he comes out occasionally and he looks very healthy. But I wonder what is the point of owning a fish that is so seclusive? The thrill of catching a glimpse of them on rare occasions? I was happy to see him still alive. Beyond that, it had been a few weeks since I checked this site out and figured I would post.

Do you have pictures of it? I'd love to see it! If not, I understand, sounds like one that likes to hide.

Most loaches do best in groups, some species do hide a lot but others need to be in groups to give them confidence to come out into the open. Do you know what kind of Loach it is? And what size tank is it in?

Perhaps I will buy him a couple of friends, this one is seclusive so maybe I do need to provide some buddies for him/her to chill with.

I wish. I forget what this one is called. It is dark grey (gray?) and is about two inches long. Looks like a worm with a mustache.
Sounds like a Black Kuhli Loach. They're really cool fish, but yeah they're super skittish if they're not in a comfortable shoal and will hide a LOT. Most of the time when you go into a fish store and see a tank with a Kuhli Loach tag on it, you won't find one. Once the employee reaches in and picks up a decoration or stirs the gravel just a bit.... 100 of them shoot out.
