I guess this is me introducing myself...
My name is Penelope, my friends call me Nellie and I am just getting into fish keeping.
I set up two two gallon tanks on December 2nd and added a Betta to one and two African Dwarf frogs to the other on December 9th. On December 13th I decided Mr. Brightside (I named my Betta after Mr. Brightside by the Killers) needed more room and moved him into a 25 gallon aquarium I kept tropical fish in when I was thirteen. I went through a host of issues with my filter blowing him around the tank and tried several means of baffling the current, from DIY water bottles to aquarium sponges until I finally found a clear soap dish that works perfectly and suffice to say Mr. Brightside is much happier now.
December 15th I added my two ADFs under close observation (I read they aren't the best tank mates for Bettas but the two gallon was always meant to be temporary and I figured I could try it). I've had no issues with either animals, Mr. Fish dosen't care about the frogs and they don't care about him (a frog nipped at Mr. Brightside's tail once, but now they know he isn't food and he knows not to cross the frogs at feeding time, otherwise the tank has been entirely peaceful).
I have since added five ghost shrimp which have been thriving since day one and two cory cats (one peppered one panda, they were a gift and I will be getting more soon so they can school). I'm trying to do a completely planted tank and so far I think everyone is happy.

I also recently took over the care of a sixty gallon tropical tank which has housed two silver dollars for five years. I'm working on breathing some new life into it. I've been having a lot of trouble with the fish I've added to that one. From now on I'm dictating exactly which fish I want when I buy, thus far I've ended up with a baby silver dollar with fungus, a kissing gourami with ick (both died within twenty four hours despite quarantine and treatment) and another kissing gourami with pop eye who is in a sick tank with medication and is showing improvement. I'm very annoyed because the silver dollars I've kept for five years and care about very much have ick alongside my gouramis and two new baby silver dollars. Everyone I have right now is fine, but from now on I'll be shopping somewhere else and being nitpicky about which specific fish I purchase.
But anyway, that's my entire experience thus far. Despite the illness that have proven much more stressful than I anticipated, I could watch my fish for hours, I just love them.

Welcome to the forum. I am one of the least knowledgeable people here. I know somethings but others know much more.
