I Am Thinking Of Restocking To Convict Cichlids

I am thinking about dumping all my community fish in my 30 gallon and getting convict cichlids.

This is because the community tank has gone on for quite a while and I would like to have some aggressive fish in it.

My cousin's convicts just had babies - about 200 and I am thinking about taking some.

How many could I fit in my tank? it is 30 gallons and will have no other fish in it.

Right now in my 30 gallon i have

4 platys
1 cherry barb
2 bala sharks
3 ID sharks
1 zebra danio
3 khuli loaches

How many convicts could I fit without an ammonia spike? How many could I fit anyways?

Convicts, are aggressive as all hell. You could safely get away with one pair, maybe ( im stretching this maybe alot) put 2 pairs in.

What if I did like 1 male 5 females? I might get 2 pairs then. What kind of hiding spots do they like, ROCK??

I would go with 6 juvies and wait til you get a pair. It is usually best to let them pair up on your own. AFter that, you'll only be able to keep the pair in the tank, no other cichlids. Convicts are very aggressive and will take on (and sometime beat) fish larger than themselves. You may be able to get away with a school of tiger barbs and a BN pleco, but then again, you may not.
