HI Guy's, it's water change day today and I found lots of snails, got them out, then found what looks like a cobweb, so took that out as well, can they live under the sand???any advice please........ :/

Try cutting right back on feeding.
Snail infestation can be a sign of over feeding and the cob web like thing is quite possibly a slime mould wich can also be attributed to over feeding.

Get an assassin snail or two and start removing them manually when you can. If you squish the little ones your fish will eat them. Also you can sink a bit of blanched lettuce in the tank overnight it will be covered with snails in the morning then you remove the lettuce with the snails still attached :) Do this a few times and you'll be able to get it under control eventually :good:

+1 thats your best bet.

I ended up with a tank full of snails after buying a plant with them on. It took several months for me to get rid of them. A combination of removal when seen, assassin snails and using veggies to trap them eventually got rid of them. Do you know what kind of snails they are?

Thanks for the reply's, I have no idea what snails they are, have put them in my water feature outside, just to see how they go on, I thought the temperature would kill them off, but they are thriving and eating the algae, will put some lettuce in and grab what I can........thanks
