Saw an ad for this chap on an other forum and had to have him :) After a bit of deliberation and a brief grilling of the current owner I am going to get him tomorrow afternoon (Sunday) Wanted a Chocolate for quite a while but never seen a healthy one in the shops.

So that will bring my stocking to this -
Tank is 6ft, 135 US gallons or 511 liters with 2 Fluval FX5s

1 Heros Severus - Mouth Brooding Severum

1 Hypsophrys Nicaraguensis (female) - Nicaraguan Cichlid
1 Acarichthys Heckelii - Threadfin Acara

2 Agenisous sp.

I also have these but not sure if they are staying or not...

Anndddd.... I've just been to a shop and found one of the most beautiful Severums I have ever seen - possibly Heros Notatus due to dots on the face rather than sqiggles but not 100% on how to ID them - though I do suspect it is a mutt Efasticious but still looks gorgeous!! I reckon female as it had rounded fins, not to many markings on the face and no sign of a thickening on the forehead.

So now it looks like the fish on the list will be going, the ones where I was not sure of keeping, though probably will keep the Flagtail Cats and try to find them a friend.

So the tank will look like

5 Annostomus Ternetzi - Lipstick Headstanders
2 Agenisous sp. - Dwarf Shovelnose(esc) Catfish.
2 Dianema urostriatum - Flagtail Catifish - untill I find one or two more.

I think that will be me done then :D

thanks :) what do you think to my plans?

It's been a long time since I have been on. But I think you made a good choice. Chocolates are very cool big fish. There is one at my LSF but my Big tanks are full.

He's so beautiful. Goodness. The more picture i see, the more I am glad I am getting into cichlids. Such stunning fish! The one cichlid I have is one of the most aggressive out there and she is causing stocking to be a pain, but I love her and I am working with it lol

Thanks guys, well I am back having got the Sev and the Choc and.... its gone okay I guess.... not great though - my Nic was an idiot to both of them and her and the Chocolate were just lip locking constantly so I have had to put the Nic in the "naughty bucket" and rescape the tank just letting the fish settle into the new scape and I will add her back in and hope for the best. But they were full on at it, and Chocolates have vicious teeth! I had no idea but they have a proper set on fangs!!

If it does not work I will have to look into rehoming the Choc :(

Hi Wills,

Hope you post some pics soon, after your disciplinarian job quiets down. Here is my little Chocolate, Snickers. The first photo is when I first got him/her about 2.5 months ago at about 2.5 to 3 inches the last two at about 4-4.5 inches tanken yesterday. Super personable and a big giant pig for food. I really like him/her and am happy that s/he is developing the bulbous head. I like that. Good luck with your new guys.

Shame pal... always a risk ay adding new cichlids to already established tanks. :/ Look forward to the pics non the less.

It is settling down a little now, the Nic is still wound up about new fish but she is taking it out a little on everyone not just the new two so its not bad they are a little messed up though :(

Might wait a few days to take pics just to let them heal up a bit

Nics are a nightmare with new fish! i had this problem when i tried to mix Geos with a large female Nic, she killed them all overnight, and she beat the #105### out of a 8" Green Terror to lol

I have only had trouble with her once before, I added an adult Guianacara and she battered that for the first day but then when he had his bearings the shoe was on the other foot and she ended up taking a right beating!!

The thing is that these new fish can take her on easily its just a case of her calming down, which in fairness as I type shes behaving. Just kind of chilling in her corner staring at me till I feed her - the two new ones are on the far side the new Severum is out in the plants but the Chocolate is hiding near the heater which IME is never good to be fair :(

Doing quite a bit better tonight, Elsie is behaving her self a little more though still chasing when she sees them but they have more confidence and I think soon they will just learn to ignore her (like everyone else in the tank) lol

Ive just ordered a fair amount more wood as well to try to break up line of sight more as well :) Which should help
