I have 6 Raccoons, 2 males, and 4 females, all just coming of age… the females must be too immature for breeding… the males are trying hard to mate with ( I assume ) the female pristella’s… I assume nothing can come from this pairing, and that they will find their own females more to their liking, once they mature a bit more??? They are similar looking….

That's an odd one, but I doubt a Pristella and a Hyphessobrycon would make viable eggs. It's a moot point in a community tank anyway, but I've never seen tetra species seriously try to spawn across species. It's coming up to breeding season now, so maybe they're just frisky.

I assume they are not closely related ( which is why I put the scientific names up 1st ) and I can’t easily tell the sexual difference on my group of pristella’s… the pristella’s seemed to let themselves get caught, yet I didn’t witness any actual coupling, but assume the they are scatterers, and don’t actually couple???
