I was given several plantlets of this plant, and advised to keep them floating until they would be bigger. Although they are producing new nice leaves, the stem is not growing.

Is this normal, or should I change something to make the stem grow?

Hygrophila Dif. aka water wisteria . are really fast growing plants ! so fast they can grow quite messy, lots of trimming. btw who you told to leave them floating? i just planted them right into the substrate, Stem will only grow if they are given a chance to develop a root system. Once root is establish the grow crazy. (provided there is adequate lighting, ferts. )

Maybe it was suggested to me as the plantlet did not have any proper roots yet. However, roots have also grown, so maybe if I plant them now, they will start growing upwards? By the way is Hygrophila a rootfeeder? I currently add liquid fertilizer only.
