Hi all. I'm contemplating going the CO2 route, instead of Flourish Excel dosing (still unsure) and wondered what people thought about these two systems...

First is the Hydor Green NRG setup. I realise this is the cheaper but I might be in the position to buy one second hand (minus the CO2 refil) fairly cheap.

Second is the Deltec/DnD system. Its the version with 1 gauge (I know there is another with 2 gauges) and the powerhead CO2 reactor. Again, I know of one being sold second hand (though almost brand new). It'll sell for more but I wonder if the extra money is worth it?

Any advice on the two systems greatly appreciated :)

Steve.

not familiar with either system but if you want to do things on the cheap I noticed practical fish keeping are giving away co2 kits when you take out a subscription.

Can't see any details on free CO2 kits, but probably a Nutrafin kit or something. I have one of those already :)

it was on the news letter they send through, and yeah it looks like its yeast based :(

It is a yeast one. I've just read some articles on there and saw it. lol

Hydor kit has very bad reviews regarding the control of the bubble rate re-adjusting itself all the time, and also needs the tiny little bottle replacing all the time as it is very small.

Don't know about the Deltec one.

My opinion (having bought some bits second hand off ebay and having to replace them) is this:

A pressurised system is a delivate piece of equipment and therefore it is more sensible to pay £80 for a new one like the link below, where you can at least get things replaced if the are faulty etc, than pay £30 for a second hand unit which may not be as good and if something is faulty you have to buy a single piece of equipment to replace that one.
