hybrids

i got a new fishy book for christmas, and it says that black mollies are hybrids between 'p. latipinnia' and 'p. sphenops'. it doesn't give me the common names. i was just wondering whether it was true...

P. latipinna is the Sailfin Molly, 'p. sphenops' is short finned molly.
