Hi,

I've noticed that its mainly livebreeders and cichlids that are hybridised.
are there any other fish that are cross-bred?

I';m just curious thats all, I know cichlids are easier to breed as they are from the genus pools, mainly. similar to live breeders.

so any other? any pics? or links?

thanks

well a typical nobrainer would be the parrot cichlid ( blood parrot )
hier is mine,
malebp.jpg

they can be very aggerssive, this particular one attacks my hand ! and even trys to get my through the glass!!
other common hybrids are " flowerhorns " i cant upload any pictures of them as idont own any, but you can always google search or go down a few topiks to see.
there are many convict hybrids as they interbreed with most of the cichlids, some hybrids can even have genes from upto 4 diferent species ( excluding Bloodparrots and flowerhorns )
i know nothing of livebaerar hybrids only that they arent atall hard to achieve.
hope that helps tuurlijk

i think he's really asking us to list some non-cichlid hybrids ;) i know many farm-bred "common" plecos are actually hybrids (but don't ask me about exactly which ones :p)

Hybrid syno's from hormone treating to breed them, that's becoming common.

ok, any others?

and yeah I ment non-cichlids :D

I was wondering if there some weird and wonderful hybrids

I think you can get hybrid cories?

And I think some betta species hybridize aswel.

Actually no one has yet to produce solid proof that blood parrots are hybrids.

Some non cichlid hybrids I have seen inclue.

Tiger shovelnose catfish x red tail catfish
Some cory hybrids
Syno hybrids
King tiger pl*co x queen arobesque pl*co
Livebearers(guppy x endler and swordtail x platy)
Striped bass hybrid(wiper?)
Roach x Rudd
Roach x Bream
Trout hybrids

lol i apologise for misreading the thread!
ive seen some hybrid marine cardinal fish on the net.
i thin kthey were red cardinal + bangai cardinal.
they were very colourful !

RTC x TSN will practically eat what ever it wants, they grow huge and need a huge tank. Though still nice.
