Here is my common pleco, Hurci. He is around 5 years old, and 13 inches long. He spends most of his time in his cave, sucking on the sides and blinking his cute eyes.
One evening he came out to gracefully swim around. I immediately grabbed the camera and caught Hurci busting some moves. Here he is!

Nice clear pics! How fast do plecos grow? I've had my common for about 7 months and it doesn't seem like he's getting any bigger -_- Yours looks great though :D

To be honest I'm not sure how fast they grow. He was already 13 inches when he was given to me, and I've had him a year without him growing any longer. I do have a tiger pleco who is a little over 3 inches long. They don't get very big though.
I'm interested in knowing how fast silver dollars grow. I have one who is 2 inches in diameter and I have had him about 3 weeks. I'm so excited about seeing him get larger.

My what a darling cat you have there, DrOizo :D

Plecos (common) grow EXCEPTIONALLY fast, 13'' is about the maximum for aquariam plecos tho. Mine has grow from 2'' to 8'' in 2 months.

Silver Dollars also gorw very, very fast. In a month, mine have grown about an inch all the way around (diameter)

Hope tht helps

I'm pretty sure mine hasn't grown at all in 7 months. Am I doing something wrong? I'm dying for an excuse to get a bigger tank :D !! Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this a common pleco?

Maybe I'm wrong about the species and he's full grown...

Thanks, drobbins! Maybe I am just looking at my silver dollar too much and am now unable to notice change
I'm sure in a few more weeks he will look a lot different.

That's a very beautiful pleco there, myenigmaself. It looks like a common to me, although I think I might have seen a tiger pleco who looked like that once. When I got my tiger pleco, there were others in the tank with him that had a lot more black on their faces like yours does. Also yours is very orange, but that could mean nothing. If it turns out to be a tiger, then it is nearly fully grown.
Despite all of that, I really do think it looks like a baby common. Either way you're going to see a lot of character come out of him :) They can be hilarious.

All I wish is that I could se my God damn plec. He's been here two days and I've had about 4 secs viewing pleasure of him and that was only his eye  Shy little Bu**er.

Dr. Oizo, for the first 4 months my pleco wouldn't show his face. Then he got used to me being around and he barely every hides now!! Looking over I can see him now :) He's even convinced my chocolate to come out and join him!! Give it time :D
