Lots of aggression possible. ;)

I would think you could make a pretty good barb tank. Green tigers and tigers...

And you could get corydoras (yes, those beloved little fishies :))as bottom feeders. :D

Fury,
thank you very much for finding my post...

when you say possible aggression, i dont understand

niether have long fins, both species semi-aggressive/aggressive

seems to be a good enough space in a 20-29gl. tank...

Aggression amongst themselves. Potential problems with other tank mates, btu you won't have anything other than tigers and teh BA tetras. :p

lol true true, i am on a 2 week break off of school! YES! (since monday) and i asked my mom if we can go to petco to take a peek at some fish and fish supplies, and she said it would be ok, so i will probably be going, monday afternoon, i will post something on my finds there! lol ;) hehe anyways i am excited!~i just got into schooling fish after my dad HAD to have some neon tetras in the tank(they died off from ich before i got the meds.... :/ :grr:  :*) :byebye: ...i was sad for a while cuz they were cool little fishes! lol well i got to go now thanks again for replying to my posts!

No problem at all. I'm here mainly to help others out. ;)

Just make sure you don't overstock, and make plans beforehand. Get more opinions before rushing off, you still have a week to buy the fish.

Also, since the tank will be new, you will have to cycle. I would suggest fishless cycling since barbs aren't the hardiest of fish, and since it is going to be only fish that belong in this part of the forum, I suppose you won't be able to put in hardier fish. :/

Good luck with the fish hunt. :D

lol thanks,
definatly fishless cycle for me
i was thinking ummmm 8 tiger barbs and 8 BA tetras...i dont know if that is overstocked or not, i can downsize to 6 tiger barbs and 6 BA tetras, i will wait for more opinions.

Eight and eight should be okay. One of the stocking schemes in The Simple Guide to Freshwater Aquariums by David Boruchowitz (the editor of Tropical Fish Hobbyist) suggests keeping up to 15 tigers in a 29 gal. by themselves. The BA tetras don't have quite as much total mass as tigers so you should be fine.

I have 13 tigers in a 30 long but I am going to put them in a brand new 29 that I just got. I want to start trying my luck with some smaller new world cichlids in the 30 long.

Tigers are great fish!!! I love mine :kana:

I have both of those types of fish in my 29 tank and I haven't seen any problems with aggression. I don't have them up to the level that I'd like them at though (eventually plan on having 6 and 6 plus a few cories...I think...dang, now I can't remember what I finally decided on)

anyways, this is just based on what I have seen, but they all seem to get along.

BA Tetras can grow quite large. 75mm/3" and more in good conditions. I think 6 and 6 space wise is better then 8 and 8, espeacially if you are thinking of a few Corys.

i dunno if anybody has experienced this but my BAT tend to grab the food away from my cories, even at lights out ( its like they can smell the food or something!!)
