I've given him 2 Aquarium salt baths--no sign of regrowth of barbels. It was amazing how this little cory who was SOOOO inactive, suddenly became superfish, hiding and flying across the tank when I tried to net him to give him the baths! It took longer to catch him than bathe him in the salt water mix! I am worried that will stress him out more. The third bath did him in--he must have collapsed, I was sure he was dead, he wouldn't move and I immediately put him back in the tank, and he floated down without any signs of life. I was so upset, when suddenly he landed on the plant and just hung there awhile before swimming around again. He's doing well--the redness on the tip of his nose is gone and he has been awake and swimming around in the middle of the tank and just started going up to the top and down to the bottom for food again. All the other fish are fine. I hope he pulls through, he is so adorable and quite the little fighter! I also have been putting MELAFIX in the tank.

Now, in the other tank, my betta is looking like he's getting a fungus again. It's never ending!

I would just like to add that corys cannot tolerate salt, it burns their skin and can kill them, so salt baths is a very bad idea for them.

Hi, you should check out this post, esp. from Inchworm re: salt baths. I thought the same thing before reading this. If you can't access, it's under "URGENT TO THOSE WHO LOST CORIES"
