These things creep me out, there was one on the kitchen floor 4' from our babies car seat last month.

From what I've been told, there sting/bite is like getting stung by 5 bees in the same spot & time.

Last night I was painting the floor of the girls bathroom (I work/live at a camp) and I saw something in the corner of my eye. I looked and there was a centipede about 10" long, flying across the floor. Now these things cruze, I mean it's like there very fast. All I could think about was one running up my pantleg. I wasn't able to sit on the floor the rest of the night.

:X I am crying......

Just kidding, but...MAN!!! That is one scary creature!

How scary do they look!

Are they really that abundant on Oahu? (Oh and BEAUTIFUL island! Wish when I went I could've spent more time exploring than at KHON...)

Absolutely beautiful!!! If you don't want them, I'll take them off your hands.

Depends on where you are, but I've found 2 this week and I'm not looking.
You say you were here for KOHN, is that the TV station? and what were you doing there?

we used to find those back home in Texas, except they were a little bigger. my uncle is a science teacher in Connecticut so I caught on and overnighted it to him (is that illegal? shipping live animals?) he put it in a terrerium in his room and the kids loved it. he even fed it a live mouse, the centipede killed it and ate it--not whole of course. when we found them originally we called poison control and they said it could kill small animals (as evident with the mouse) and could make a person sick. nasty things, and mean!

These are small ones, not sure if I stated that, they get up to 12" long, I just haven't gotten a pic of one yet. When my wife was living in Thailand she seen them bigger than that, about 14" long. I never got to see one when I was there :(
She lived on a college campus in Sara Buri just north of Bankok. She said every night giant centipedes and cobras would be all over the roads on the campus. So I went for a walk one night when I was there but for some reason we saw nothing :<

My dad used to work in palm oil research, and he told me these guys were really common around there. He also said when walking under the palm leaves, it would be literally raining caterpillar poo

My grandma told me she was once bitten by this thing, and it hurt A LOT. She also told me that the Chinese belief to cure the poison in its bite is to kill the centipede, and rub its dead body over the wound. Strange, but she says it works :dunno:

P.T.

Picture doesn't show for me.
