I've noticed that the stock nano cube filter system really sucks. Every time I do something in my tank I can watch debris swirl around and never go near either of the filter inlets. Debris just swirls around in a clockwise motion for about 3-4 hours before it ends up making it into one of grills. What can I do to upgrade this? If debris is getting stuck in a swirl then water must be swirling in the same pattern. I believe this would make a very poor recycle rate for the water.
I did some aquascape work about 4 hours ago, the water is maybe 8-10% clearer than it was during the aqua scaping... I would like to find a way direct water into the grills, or would adding a larger pump make the grills have greater suction? The pump output seems to be great but the flow into the grills seems bad. I know things need to "settle" but I can watch debris skim right past the filter grill's (sometimes as close as 5mm to the grill) and keep going right past. You would think it would get sucked into the filter but it doesnt, it will continue on that cycle for 3-4 hours at least before it winds up getting sucked into the filter or stuck on a LR.
