How to treat a nipped veil?

I made a make shift separarater (which I actually thought was rather clever) using BBQ sitcks and dental floss to make a mesh. Unfortunately one of my bettas managed to get around the mesh and attacked my veiltail.

One of his pectoral fins has a bite in it and his fins are looking more ragged than usual. What can I do help the little bugger? I don't want him to die.

Frequent water changes and salt is one of the best things you can do. You want clean water so you don't get infection or fin rot. You might want to think about putting him into a 1 gal bowl till it heals up. Good luck!
