How To Tell If They Spawned?

Hi all,

I've got my mango CT's together. The male built up a bubble nest and he chases the female away. I'm not sure if they have spawned yet (the last time I tried...about a year ago...I hadn't seen the veiltails spawn, but was surprised to see fry one day) so I don't know if I should take the female out. I see what might be a few eggs on the ground, but I'm not sure.

I don't want to take the female out if they haven't spawned yet, because he doesn't really bit her at all, and her fins are all fine.

I've tried looking at the bubblenest up close, but I don't know what to look for. The bubbles all look empty from what I can tell. Does anybody know how to tell for sure if they spawned, or know of any great sites I may have missed in my searches? Thanks,

-Ian

Did you condition them before spawning? Did you let them see each other in seperate tanks for a couple weeks before spawning? Do you have loads and loads of hiding places? Did you see them wrap around each other?

If the female is not hiding in one corner of the tank and the male is not being overly agressive... I would leave her there for another 24 hours.

Hi, I did condition them and keep her in a chimney within his tank. I've done lots of research before attempting them, and I don't think I missed anything. I never saw him wrap around her or I would have known they at least attempted spawning.

Anyways, I came home from school today and she seems to have turned on him and his fins are pretty badly damaged. I have separated them and will keep them apart for a month or so. Looks like another unsuccessful spawning attempt.

Thanks for the advice anyways :)

Cheers,

-Ian

Maybe they weren't meant to be :/ Maybe next time you could try a different female or different male. -_-

HI. Unfortunately, they were the only spawn sib pair I could come across. From a show-quality (apparently) line from thailand!

I found another importer in my city who is getting 450+ new CT's in a few weeks so I'll be seeing what he has!
